Over the past several years, downtown Encinitas has gone through a renaissance with a variety of improvements and changes. Businesses, property owners and residents in Leucadia and Encinitas (from Encinitas Bl. to La Costa Ave.) have seen the revitalization of downtown and recognize DEMA’s positive influence. This realization led a group of people to explore the possibilities of setting up a Main Street Association to work on behalf of North Coast Hwy 101. With the help of some “founding sponsors”, a consultant was brought in to help set up such an organization. From this effort, Leucdia-Encinitas Hwy 101 MainStreet Association, or “Leucadia 101 Main Street” was formed in 2003.

As of today, Leucadia 101 has established a board of directors made up of business owners, property owners and residents of Leucadia, which is  working with the City of Encinitas and members of the organization to enhance and revitalize the North Coast Hwy 101 corridor (as called for in the North Hwy 101 Specific Plan, approved in 1997).

As you might imagine, the success of the organization depends on having a diverse membership made up of merchants, property owners, public agencies, community groups and residents. Working together, Leucadia 101 can accomplish the vision of its stakeholders…making the Historic Hwy 101 corridor a vibrant district serving the needs of residents and visitors.
