Marissa Quinn Head Shot

Marissa Quinn was born and raised in Encinitas where she spent her formative years developing a biological and spiritual understanding of the balance of coastal habitats. She graduated with a BFA and MFA in painting and drawing from Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, CA. Quinn has a large-scale drawing in the Lancaster Museum of Art and History’s permanent collection entitled “Cyclical Paradoxologies”.

Quinn combines realism and surrealism with her black and grey pen-and-ink drawings of endangered flora and fauna, often through anthropomorphic and dreamlike compositions. She enjoys working with marine biologists and environmental conservation groups as research tools to inform the accuracy and relevancy of her drawings. One might sense elements of indigenous storytelling and ancient mythology in her work, which she describes as the connection of all forms of life through the cycle, the circle, and the ouroboros (an ancient source of hope for humanity).
