Over the past several years, downtown Encinitas has gone through a renaissance with a variety of improvements and changes. The Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association (DEMA) has been providing leadership, insight and enthusiasm during that time. With DEMA’s leadership, downtown Encinitas has transformed into a thriving business environment.
Businesses, property owners and residents in Leucadia and Encinitas (from Encinitas Bl. to La Costa Ave.) have been watching the revitalization of downtown and recognize DEMA’s positive influence. This realization, along with some severe drainage problems along the North Coast Hwy 101, led a group of people to explore the possibilities of setting up a Main Street Association to work on behalf of North Coast Hwy 101. With the help of some “founding sponsors”, a consultant was brought in to help set up such an organization. It is with great pleasure that we announce the creation of the Leucadia-Encinitas Hwy 101 MainStreet Association, or “Leucadia 101 Main Street”.
As of today, Leucadia 101 has established a board of directors made up of business owners, property owners and residents of Leucadia. Now that the board is set, we are ready to start working with the City of Encinitas and members of the organization to enhance and revitalize the North Coast Hwy 101 corridor (as called for in the North Hwy 101 Specific Plan, approved in 1997).
As you might imagine, the success of the organization depends on having a diverse membership made up of merchants, property owners, public agencies, community groups and residents. At this time, I would like to invite you to become a member of Leucadia 101. The annual Partnership Pledge for businesses starts at $50, and this money goes directly into enhancing the North Coast Hwy 101 corridor. Working together, Leucadia 101 can accomplish the vision of its stakeholders…making the Historic Hwy 101 corridor a vibrant district serving the needs of residents and visitors.
